The Pink Music

Alecia Beth Moore, also known as Pink, was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, and later raised in Philadelphia. Inspired by Mary J. Blige, Madonna, Janis Joplin, 4 Non Blondes and Whitney Houston, Pink always wanted to become a singer even as a child. She was a very unique teenager with varied many interests including skateboarding, hip-hopping and gymnastic.

At the age of 13, after spending several years of singing guest spots at clubs and performing for talent shows, she was offered to sing back-up by a local DJ rap group, Schools of Thoughts. Later, her talent was discovered by a record executive and she joined a female R&B group but that didn’t work out. So she signed a contract with LeFace Records to begin her solo career. Pink got her first real break with her debut solo album ‘Can’t Take Me Home’ released in 2000, which was a double-platinum hit; it spun off three Top Ten singles in “There U Go”, “You Make Me Sick” and “Most Girls”.

Although Pink was initially viewed as yet another face in the late 90s crowd of teen pop acts, she quickly showed signs of becoming one of the rare artists to transcend and outgrow the label. Several of her songs and albums became the biggest hits of their time. Her solo release “Get the Party Started” is one of the most inescapable hit to date, climbing into the Top Five and another single “Don’t Let Me Get Me” also became a fast-rising Top Ten hit.

Her sophomore album, ‘Missundaztood’, quickly went double platinum; it boasted a more personal voice and a more eclectic sound, also heavy contributions from ex-4 Non Blondes singer Linda Perry, helped bring some more rock muscle to Pink’s sound, ‘Missundaztood’ attracted positive critical notices as well.

Pink has come a long way to raise herself to glory and achieve success. Independent, fierce and blunt in speaking her mind, she is most certainly one of those amazing talented artists, who pave their way, through thick and thin, to stardom.
